Open FAIR™ 2 Foundation Course

The Open FAIR™ 2 Foundation Course prepares learners for The Open Group Open FAIR 2 Certification exam. You’ll gain a foundational understanding of the FAIR quantitative risk model, including FAIR analysis risk concepts. This course is designed for risk analysts and organisations who want to use quantitative risk methodologies. 

Open FAIR is a trademark of The Open Group. Our Open FAIR 2 Foundation Course is (will be) accredited by The Open Group. 

The purpose of any risk analysis is to provide a decision-maker with the best possible information about loss exposure and their options for dealing with it

About the Exam

Accredited Training Course

  • Delivered at:  Authorised examination provider test centres and also available as an online proctored exam
  • Prerequisites: None 
  • Supervised: Yes 
  • Open Book: No 
  • Exam Type: Simple Multiple Choice 
  • Number of questions: 40 
  • Passing Score: 60% (24 out of 40 questions) 
  • Duration: 60 minutes* 
  • Retake Policy: If you fail the exam, you must wait one month before taking another attempt

No prior knowledge or experience with FAIR or quantitative risk analysis is necessary.  

  • Recommended Study: A Study Guide is available. The Self-Study Pack includes the Study Guide bundled with the Pocket Guide and other materials. 
  • Recommended Training: An Accredited Training Course covering the Open FAIR Level 1 conformance requirements. See the Open FAIR 2 Foundation Register of Accredited Training Courses. 

There are no prerequisites. Anyone is eligible to take The Open FAIR Part 1 examination. However, it is recommended that you undertake a period of instructor led in-person or virtual training, or e-Learning before sitting the exam to give you the best chance of being successful

Yes, the Open FAIR Part 1 exam is available to be taken via online proctoring. See here for details. 

Accredited training course providers are subject to an assessment both of the course and also their personnel and organisation. In addition all accredited trainers include in their course fee the examination, either on site as part of the course or a voucher to attend a public test centre. Some Accredited trainers also have permission to distribute official training materials, such as the official pdf copy of the standard with their course materials.
